Bradford Era — As Headwaters Charitable Trust of DuBois moves forward in the purchase of the former Knox-Kane rail corridor for development into a rail trail, questions have arose about both Headwaters and the trail itself.

According to Headwaters Charitable Trust executive director Janie French, the trust is actually one of two non-profit organizations which make up Headwaters PA.

In an organizational document provided by French, Headwaters Charitable Trust is described as the entity which performs such functions as raising money, writing grants, and acquiring land rights. It “is a non-membership board of 8-16 directors comprised of business owners, bankers, government, technical and legal experts who by nature embrace a conservation ethic.”  Read More
