Kane Republican — Mt. Jewett resident Jim Sharer is expected to serve as the acting sheriff for McKean County.

Sharer, the first deputy sheriff for the county, is expected to take over Friday.

In a letter dated Sunday, County Sheriff Bradley A. Mason told the McKean County Board of Commissioners that he would resign as warden of the McKean County Jail as of midnight tonight.
