Bradford Era — The Mount Jewett Sewer Authority has decided to put its treatment system out to bid.

The move came approximately 24 hours after the borough agreed to accept a bid from Aqua America Inc. of Bryn Mawr for the borough’s water facilities. Mount Jewett will receive $1.1 million for the water system.

Borough council president Chuck Paar said the sewer authority is a separate entity from the water department with its own organizational structure independent from the borough. Paar stressed that borough council neither instigated nor initiated any dialogue with Aqua America in regards to the borough’s sewer treatment facilities. Read More
