Bradford Era — Mount Jewett Borough police chief Steve Hale addressed members of the Mount Jewett Volunteer Fire Department at their annual banquet on Saturday night, and expressed his gratitude to the department for not only service to the borough, but for the many lessons they taught him.

After acknowledging the presence of representatives from fire departments in Kane and Lafayette Township, Hale asked for a moment of silence to honor former borough employee Kevin Causer. Causer was killed in a car accident in March.

Hale thanked the fire department for “taking him under their wing” five years ago when he started with the police department. He said the advice and tutelage of chief Dan “Beans” Gustafson, assistant chief Mike Boedecker and veteran firefighter Ed Fisher has been immeasurable to both his professional and personal growth.  Read More
