The club is making attempts to save the rails on the 3.9-mile section of the former Knox-Kane rail corridor lying in between Mount Jewett and Kinzua Bridge State Park while having a trail adjacent to the rails. Headwaters Charitable Trust of Curwensville is in the process of purchasing the entire 73.8-mile corridor from Kovalchick. Headwaters’ Executive Director Janie French maintains the rails must go. Mount Jewett Mayor McGuire Asks for Reinstatement of Borough Police Department
McGuire cited complaints from borough residents about drivers running stop signs at the corner of Brennan Avenue and Fuller Street, Oberg Avenue and Anderson Street, and High and Division streets. Mount Jewett Senior Center to Receive State Funding
The joint funding announcement was made by Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati, R-Brockway, and state Rep. Martin Causer, R-Turtlepoint.
The lawmakers said the Mount Jewett Senior Center in McKean County has been awarded a grant in the amount of $20,590, which will be used to purchase fitness equipment, tables and a new television. Read more

Boy Scout Troop 410 Dedicates New Scout Center in Mount Jewett
The first three words of the Boy Scout oath resonated in throughout the hearts and minds of the guests in attendance as the Allegheny Highlands Council Boy Scout Troop 410 dedicated their new scout center located at 5 Boyd St. in Mount Jewett, and honored a fallen comrade in the process.
The scouts named their new facility after Mount Jewett native and Troop 410 Eagle Scout Christopher J. McCormick, who passed away in 2014 at the age of 40. Read more

Mount Jewett Slates Memorial Day Activities
The parade will travel down Main Street to the Veterans’ Gazebo, where a Memorial Day service will be held.
This year’s parade marshal is John J. Verolini, a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.
