Mount Jewett Borough Council Approves Sale of Water Facilities

Bradford Era — Mount Jewett Borough Council approved the sale of the borough’s water facilities to Bryn Mawr-based Aqua America Inc. on Monday, ending speculation on the future of the borough’s struggling water department.

Borough council, minus Wil Antrim and Rod Danielson, voted to approve Aqua’s bid of $1.1 million by a 4 to 0 vote. Councilman Brett Morgan, also the current water operator, abstained as he would be offered a job from Aqua as water operator.

Morgan said both Aqua and Pennsylvania American Water, which initially bid $720,000 for the borough water facilities, were strong companies that brought a lot to the table. However, Morgan said he is excited to see the borough move forward with Aqua America.  Read More
