Lack of Police Presence Discussed at Mount Jewett Meeting

Bradford Era — Mayor Melissa McGuire took Mount Jewett Borough Council to task on Monday about the lack of a police presence in the borough and the problems it’s creating.

In January, the borough set forth new guidelines for the borough police department. Included in those guidelines was a limit of 39 hours per week for any officer, including then-police chief Steve Hale. At least two part-time officers would work 50 hours per week, and their main priorities were established to be “weekday mornings while pedestrian and vehicular traffic is at its peak” and mid-to-late evening to curb vandalism.  Read More
