County Planning Commission Hears from Advocates for Rails to Trails

Bradford Era — The McKean County Planning Commission heard presentations Tuesday from advocates of the proposed trail from Mount Jewett to the Kinzua Bridge State Park and Linda Devlin, executive director of the Allegheny National Forest Visitors Bureau, who noted tourism is a growth industry in the county.

Joining Carolyn Stroup and Karen Sees, organizers of the MJ2KB T[Rail] Group, whose objective is develop and maintain the trail on the 3.9-mile corridor along the tracks of the former Knox and Kane Railroad in Hamlin Township, was Tim Garity, also a member of the group.

Using a group of photographs, Stroup, who has a background in trail development, spoke about how rails can be saved and co-exist with multi-use trails.  Read More
